Extraction of Cannabis Oil
Although the extraction of cannabis oil is not a new technique, it has only recently been discovered. The difficulty of extracting oil from cannabis plants in a useful state with enough concentration to be used as a medical remedy was the main obstacle to prior art. It was difficult for a few cannabis companies to extract any amount cannabis oil. In this day and age, it was almost impossible to find cannabis companies that could extract enough cannabis essential oil. Now, all that is changing.
Prior art methods resulted in large quantities of “black sludge”, or dried up plant matter, that did not contain a high amount of CBD or cannabidiol. This sludge must then be treated in a specific way to make it usable as a herbal remedy. It should be treated in the same way that essences of herbal and natural remedies. This is no longer necessary.
Ethanol extraction is the method used to extract CBD. An ethanol extraction system resembles a small hemp oil centrifuge extractor. The centrifuge, which is small and rickety in appearance, can be used as a backyard accessory. These units allow cannabis oils to be extracted by heating.
Heat is used because the heat makes the CBD more soluble. It is therefore easier to transport and manage the concentrated CBD than the oil that was extracted during distillation. The supercritical co2 extraction process produces very little alcohol. The end product is generally considered to be low in alcohol content. This means that the active constituents can generally be absorbed more slowly by patients taking cannabis supplements. This is because this method of cannabis delivery produces a lower-potency supplement than if it were extracted using supercritical CO2.
Carbon dioxide and supercritical carbon2 dioxide extraction are two other methods currently being used to extract supplements. These methods provide higher concentrations of active ingredients than ethanol extraction systems. Both of these methods work well for the medical and legal production of pharmaceutical grade cannabis plant extracts. Some online cannabis oil producers now use an open carbon process. This process doesn’t require any additional drying equipment or carbon filters.
Open carbon hemp oil extraction methods work best when large amounts of material can be put into the reservoir. This large amount of material can increase the temperature in the reservoir and cause the solvent’s to be forced out to the lower atmosphere, where it can absorb into the air. The open carbon extraction equipment is set up so that a vacuum is created. The pressurized air is used to draw in the solvent so that it can be drawn even further into the reservoir where the heat from the extraction process melts it into the oil. There are many extraction machines available today. These machinery have a variety of different functions including air compression, cold phase extraction and hot phase extraction. These three different extraction methods all work well for different applications, although there is no clear cut relationship between any of these methods and the final product. Most cases the differences are minor and only in very specific circumstances.

This reaction results in oil with a higher CBD content than what is found in the plant.
